Journey of becoming the richest club of the world (contt..)

After the 2004–05 season, Real Madrid ended Manchester United's eight-year reign as the biggest earners in world football. Real's income to the year ending 30 June 2005 jumped 17 per cent to €275.7m (£190m).

Though Pérez's policy resulted in increased financial success based on the exploitation of the club's high marketing potential around the world, especially in Asia, it came under increasing criticism for being focused too much on marketing the Real Madrid brand and not enough on the performances of the team.

In January 2007, Real Madrid paid their debts of €224 million and fell to second spot behind Manchester United. However, they reached the top again two months later after completing an image rights deal with Adidas worth €762 million. Manchester United's debt was €872 million in 2007, down from €1.25 billion in 2005.

In September 2007, Real Madrid was considered the most valuable football brand in Europe by BBDO, and is ranked as the second most valuable club in football with a value of €951 mil (£640 million / $1.285 billion) as of May 2008, only beaten by Manchester United with a value of 1.8 billion euros (£906 million)^.

In September 2009 it was announced that Real Madrid's management plans to open its own Real Madrid dedicated theme park by 2013.

A study at Harvard University reached the conclusion that Real Madrid "is one of the 20 most important brand names and the only one in which its executives, the players, are well-known. We have some spectacular figures in regard to worldwide support of the club. There are an estimated 287 million people worldwide who follow Real Madrid." icket4football.com provides the fans to get Real Madrid Tickets online at relatively cheaper price you can also buy Champions league tickets and champions league final tickets for the other teams of the League. Journey of becoming the richest club of the world..

It was under Florentino Pérez's presidency (2000–2006) that Real Madrid started harbouring its current ambition of becoming the world's richest professional football club. The club ceded part of its training grounds to the city of Madrid in 2001 and sold the rest to four corporations: Repsol YPF, Mutua Automovilística de Madrid, Sacyr Vallehermoso and OHL. The sale wiped out its debts, paving the way for the club to buy the world's most expensive players such as Zinédine Zidane, Luís Figo, Ronaldo and David Beckham. The city had rezoned the training grounds for development, a move which in turn increased their value, and then bought the site. Although there is no evidence thereto, the critics allege that the city overpaid for the property to help with the club's finance.

The sale of the training ground for office buildings cleared Real Madrid's debts of €270m and enabled the club to embark upon an unprecedented spending spree which brought big-name players to the club. Moreover, the money gained was spent on a state-of-the-art training complex on the city's outskirts. Real Madrid been a great source of entertainment for their fans across the world. El Derbi madrileño (Real Madrid and Atletico with contrasting identities)

El Derbi madrileño (English: Madrid Derby) is the name given to football matches between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, both of them from Madrid, Spain. Real Madrid and Atletico are clubs with contrasting identities and very different fates - a divide similar to Manchester's derby, but far more political. Historically, Real Madrid have long been seen as the establishment club. On the other side, Atletico was always characterized by a 'sentimiento de rebeldía' (a sense of rebellion) although, during the early Franco years, it was Atlético that was the preferred team of the regime, being associated with the military airforce, until the regime's preferences moved towards Real Madrid in the 1950s. Franco sought to make political capital out of Real Madrid's European Cup titles at a time when Spain was internationally isolated - "Real Madrid are the best embassy we ever had", said one minister. Bernabeu, Real Madrid's stadium, is majestic, alongside banks and businesses on the classy and aristocratic Castellana, while Calderon can be found beside the river; Real Madrid draw greater support because of its successes, while Atletico has a more working class fan base, which comes particularly from the south of the city.

Real Madrid and FC Barcelona rivalry

The rivalry comes about as Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest cities in Spain, and the two clubs are the most successful and influential football clubs in the country. They are sometimes identified, especially among FC Barcelona supporters in Catalonia, with Spanish nationalism and Catalanism, respectively. It is one of the most followed football matches in the world, watched by hundreds of millions of people in many countries.

The clásico term came about in the mid-2000s, and is originally a name for any historical South American footballing rivalry. The new name came about due to the growing presence of Spanish football in the Americas, with the advent of global marketing of the game.

Players Of Real Madrid CF

Spanish teams are limited to three players without EU citizenship. The squad list includes only the principal nationality of each player; several non-European players on the squad have dual citizenship with an EU country. Also, players from the ACP countries—countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific that are signatories to the Cotonou Agreement—are not counted against non-EU quotas due to the Kolpak ruling. Real Madrid has established a reputation of signing only the world's best players, a throw back to President Santiago Bernabeu Yeste 's 1950s policy that brought the likes of Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, Francisco Gento and Raymond Kopa. In recent times the likes of Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham, Owen, Robinho, Van Nistelrooy, Robben and Van Der Vaart simultaneously donned the prestigious white shirt, giving birth to the name Los Galacticos.

The second tenure of Florentino Perez is typical as seen with the arrival of the much famed pair of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso.
